The Inca Trail to Machu Picchu is an extraordinary once in a life time experience, a 4 day-walk to the mysterious lost city of Machu Picchu.
Trek 27 miles in 4 days across impressive landscapes, snow-capped mountains and lush jungle with reminders of the Inca Empire along the route.
The trek begins high in the Andes, crossing forests and through thick Andean mists, climbing thousand-year-old stone steps and discovering ancient Inca fortresses and cities.
Reward comes with the first, unforgettable sighting of Machu Picchu from the Inti Punku (the Sun Gate).
Explore the citadel itself accompanied by a guide.

Day 1: Cusco – Km. 82 – Huayllabamba
Wake up very early today and transfer from your hotel to Piskacucho, a community located on Km. 82, the starting point of your 4-day journey to Machu Picchu.
Hike alongside the Urumbamba River and ascend to the impressive Inca city of Llactapata.
Climb gradually for about 5 hours until you reach Wayllabamba where you will camp for the night.
Distance: 12 km.
Estimated walking time: 5-6 hours
Maximum altitude: 3,000 m.

Day 2: Wayllabamba – Pacaymayo
After breakfast, ascend the pass of Warmiwañusca, known as “Dead’s woman pass”.
This is a real challenge located at 4,200 m where impressive views and dramatic scenery await.
Descend to the Pacaymayo Valley, where you will camp for the night.
Distance: 11 km.
Estimated walking time: 6-7 hours
Maximum altitude: 4,200 m.

Overnight: Camp
Day 3: Pacaymayo – Wiñaywayna
Today is the longest stretch, and impressive because of the archaeological sites along the way.
From Pacaymayo ascend to the Abra Runkurakay Pass and continue to Sayacmarca. This ancient fortress is only accessible via a narrow stone staircase.
Head to Phuyupatamarca, one of the most complete and best-preserved archaeological complexes along the Inca Trail.
It is located on the highest point of a mountain and its name means 'Town over the clouds'.
Descend to Wiñaywayna, an impressive Inca complex made up of an agricultural centre with numerous terraces. Overnight in the camp.

Day 4: Wiñaywayna – Machu Picchu – Cusco
Start very early in order to get to Inti Punku (The Sun Gate) and the first stunning views of Machu Picchu itself.
A two-hour guided tour around the citadel will reveal the history of this incredible place.
After the tour, enjoy some free time to explore on your own.
In the afternoon, take a bus to Aguas Calientes and then a train back to Ollantaytambo or Poroy train station where you will be transferred to your hotel in Cusco.
Distance: 5 km.
