Luzon is the Philippines’ main island and home to many of the countries’ best sights. Most visitors arrive in Manila which is worth a day or two exploring. Just a couple of hours from Manila, Taal Volcano near Tagaytay is a great day excursion or overnight trip near Manila.

Heading north, in Luzon’s Cordillera region the rice terraces at Banaue and the laid-back town of Sagada are key attractions.

The heritage town of Vigan with its preserved Spanish era buildings is a key sight and further east, little-visited Bicol offers the spectacular Mayon Volcano, whale sharks and some of the best diving in the Philippines.
