The central provinces of South Korea offer the visitor an insight into Korean culture as well as being home to some of Korea's finest mountainous scenery and national parks.
Andong Hahoe Folk Village is one of the most well known sights in South Korea's central provinces, known for its traditional houses, its strong cultural associations and the striking scenery as well as for an interesting local cuisine. On her visit to South Korea in 1999, the Queen paid a visit and an overnight stop in Andong is well worth the trouble on the journey south.
Jeonju is another important cultural site in South Korea, home to well-preserved traditional houses and the home of Bibimbap, South Korea's national dish.
Songnisan National Park is one of the more remote of South Korea's mountain areas and offers great walking opportunities as well as the chance to visit (and stay at) one of South Korea's most impressive temple complexes at Beopjusa.
