Located beneath the twin peaks of Mt. Meru and Mount Kilimanjaro, the bustling little town of Arusha acts as a gateway to the Serengeti and the National Parks on Tanzania’s northern safari circuit.
The dramatic crater of Mt. Meru stands over the town like a majestic sentinel, it’s crater strewn with thick clouds, it’s slopes dark with verdant forest.
Arusha’s location near the major national parks and its highland setting make it a peaceful place to spend a night or more relaxing before the start of a Tanzania safari.
Bear in mind that the 1,540-metre altitude means that Arusha can be quite chilly in the evenings and early mornings.
