The Galilee is a mountainous region in the north of Israel comprised of two main areas – the Upper Galilee to the north and the Lower Galilee to the south.
The Upper Galilee is a dream for nature lovers and features: Beit Hakerem Valley in the south; the Hula Valley and the Jordan Valley in the east; and Lebanon in the north.
This magnificent natural landscape is blessed with some spectacular mountains, the highest of which is Mount Meron bordering the gorgeous Mediterranean Sea in the west.
The region is home to popular tourist sites such as the Hula Nature Reserve, the Banias trails and waterfalls, and Mount Hermon.
Aptly dubbed, ‘Israel's Little Tuscany’, Upper Galilee boasts some lush green countryside, a wide range of excellent boutique wineries, and a gloriously laid-back atmosphere, all of which have made this wonderfully scenic natural wilderness a much loved holiday destination for Israelis and foreign travellers alike.
