When most people think about Mandela and Cape Town they don’t see beyond Robben Island, but Cape Town has a captivating Mandela story to tell as it provided the setting for the unfolding of a series of significant and secretive meetings that led to the surprise release of Mandela and the unbanning of the ANC in February 1990.

Explore Cape Town, including the Houses of Parliament, the Castle, the lively Greenmarket Square with its daily market, the Company Gardens and of course Table Mountain, with spectacular views over the city and the Peninsula.

As you come back down from the mountain, make a stop at Bo-Kaap, home to the Cape Malay community, with its cobbled streets and brightly coloured houses.

From here you have the choice of being dropped off at the Waterfront to experience this vibrant location at your own pace, with its many shops, restaurants and pubs - or at your hotel to end the tour.

Note that the cable car fee is not included as it is weather dependent and is usually closed for annual maintenance from the last week of July to Mid August, dates for 2014 have not been confirmed as yet.
