Tugu Bali

Tugu Bali blends pure tropical luxury with a wonderfully relaxing ambience. Nestled between the quiet, pristine beach of Canggu, whispering rice paddies, a fishing village, and the adjacent Batu Bolong Temple, Tugu Bali is one of Bali’s most charming boutique resorts.

The Tugu is very “Balinese” and houses over 1,000 of the owners’ vast collection of priceless Indonesian antiques and artwork.

Twenty-one thatched luxury suites and pavilions, constructed in traditional Balinese style, are built near or over wild lotus ponds, linked by romantic wooden walkways.

Tugu has a great reputation for dining, offering some fabulous traditional Balinese fare and keeping island culinary traditions alive.

The location means that the Tugu is about 25 minutes from trendy Seminyak and 10 minutes from Tanah Lot Sea Temple.

Tugu Bali has some unique dining experiences, which make use of the great locations in the hotel and the antique furniture. Experience dining like Balinese royalty.

Although more geared for small groups, some unique dining experiences are available for couples, which makes for a really romantic and unforgettable experience.

What's so Special?

For us Bali is all about the ambience and the artistic traditions. There are few, if any, hotels that achieve this in quite the same way as the Tugu Bali, which has atmosphere, character and individuality in spades.

We love unique hotels that are almost destinations in themselves and The Tugu Bali epitomises just this kind of hotel.

Bear in Mind

You have to be a bit of a ‘romantic’ at heart to appreciate the style – Tugu Bali isn’t a ‘traditional’ resort.

The location is tranquil and isolated – it’s a bit too far to just ‘pop in’ to Seminyak.

Ji Restaurant at Bale Sutra

Bale Sutra offers one of the most unique dining locations anywhere. The restaurant is set in a red 18th century Kang Xi period temple and offers Oriental-influenced cuisine based on the Babah Peranakan culture in Indonesia.

A majestic blend between old Chinese and old Balinese cultures, this ornate and elegant dark wood temple features beautiful carvings and details of mythological animals all over the roofs and ceilings.

It was originally a family temple that had been used for generations, before it was saved and found by the founder/designer of Tugu Hotels & Restaurants, the antique collector Anhar Setjadibrata.

The cuisine at JI is inspired by centuries old cooking tradition from Japan, as well as other East Asian countries, with a focus on the classical art of grilling (robata) as well as the finer arts of sushi in bringing beautifully delicate flavors of Asia to guests’ tables.

Ji Terrace by the Sea

Ji terrace by the sea takes you on a journey to the heart of Indonesia, Japan, India, and Thailand with contemporary & playful Japanese & Asian inspired dishes and a 180 degrees undisturbed view over Canggu Beach.

The food served at Ji terrace by the sea is a modern interpretation of ancient Asian cultures.

Led by Chef Colin Buchan (previously chef of Gordon Ramsay restaurants in London as well as Jason Atherton’s Pollen in Singapore), Ji Terrace creates dishes that are global, contemporary & playful.

On the 2nd and 3rd floor, as the DJ plays seductive tunes from sunset to evening, Ji Terrace by the Sea celebrates Bali beach life to the fullest!

Wantilan Agung

Wantilan Agung is in the village of Bayung Gede and is surrounded by the extraordinary roofs and unique architecture of the ancient village.

Bale Puputan

This 19th century meeting & dining chamber is decorated with royal antiques. The famous Grand Rijsttafel is served here by a parade of 12 waiters, true to the tradition created during Dutch Colonial times.

Waroeng Tugu

This very humble traditional Javanese and Balinese street side kitchen serves local fare said by many to be the best Javanese and Balinese food not only in the island but in the whole of Indonesia. (This is the main picture above).

Nearby Dining

Tugu Bali is in a secluded location with no restaurants within easy reach.

Spa

The Spa at Tugu Bali is located right by the beach which means that the sound of the crashing waves and the fresh breezes can accompany treatments.
