Le Bel Air Resort
Le Bel Air Resort
Situated just 10 minutes by foot from the centre of Luang Prabang, Le Bel Air Resort is a luxury colonial-inspired resort consisting of 66 rooms and chalets in a peaceful setting right beside the Nam Khan River.
The resort consists of rooms and bungalows which are spacious, with high-ceilings, large bathrooms and capacious private balconies.
The rooms are set in small two-storey blocks amongst the tidy grounds. All rooms have large bathrooms and private balconies, some with river or Mount Phousi views.
The Bungalows are very nice indeed with extremely comfortable beds and large terraces overlooking the large swimming pool area.
The resort has a restaurant with indoor and terrace dining and spa treatments are available in the simple on-site spa.
What's so Special?
There are literally dozens of boutique-style hotels in Luang Prabang but Le Bel Air will suit those looking for resort-style facilities (i.e. a nice swimming pool and restaurant).
The rooms are very nicely furnished in colonial-era themes, and when we visited at the start of 2019 the grounds were impeccable.
The GM is ex Aman Resorts so you can be assured of high standards.
Bear in mind
The resort is a 10-minute walk into town across the iron French Bridge which is right next to the hotel, or across the seasonal bamboo bridge.
Alternatively the hotel has a shuttle which will get you to the main street in 3 minutes or so.
Garnier Rooms
Named in honour of French explorer Francis Garnier, these rooms (42 sq. m) are set in blocks of 4 two-storey buildings set amongst the gardens offering garden or river views.
They are very spacious with private terraces overlooking the gardens. Some of the upper-storey rooms have views of Mount Phousi.
Rooms feature high-ceilings and spacious bathrooms along with modern features such as flat-screen TV’s and fast Wi-Fi.
Rooms can be setting up to interconnect via the balcony making these a good option for families.
Mouhot Rooms
These rooms are set in low-rise blocks closer to the river and are slightly larger (48 sq. m) than the Garnier Rooms.
Pavie Bungalows
These exclusive bungalows are located around the resort’s infinity swimming pool and feature private terraces, spacious bathrooms with rainforest showers and very comfortable beds.
Dining
Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served in the riverside restaurant which has indoor, courtyard and terrace seating.
The menu offers a nice choice of Laotian specialities and Western options.
Facilities
The infinity swimming pool is a very relaxing area right by the river and is one of the best features of the resort.
The hotel has converted two rooms into a spa where a range of treatments are available.
The resort has a vehicle available for transfers to the airport or around town.
