Alam Shanti is a very Balinese style boutique hotel in Ubud with just 8 traditionally designed rooms in a wonderful setting amongst rice paddies and lush foliage, just a short walk from the centre of Ubud.
‘Alam Shanti' means ‘Peaceful Nature’ and the secluded tranquil location makes it an ideal place in which to take in the unique atmosphere of Ubud.
Alam Shanti is within easy access of Ubud, via a path, which leads through Ubud’s famous Monkey Forest. Alternatively a taxi ride is only 5 minutes or so from the centre of Ubud.
Alam Shanti’s rooms are very Balinese style with ornately carved wooden doorways, large Balinese beds and décor which reflects the spirit of Bali, all situated amongst peaceful tropical gardens.
The swimming pool is a really nice bonus and Alam Shanti also has a small but popular spa.

Alam Shanti is one of 3 Alam Hotels in Ubud, all of which are under the ownership and management of well-known local artist Ketut and his charming wife Wayan who also own the famous Café Wayan in Ubud and have a craft shop supporting local projects.
Ketut is a well-known local artist and his artwork is exhibited in a gallery above the spa.
Booking early is vital as this is a great value and very popular boutique resort - just 8 rooms and they can sell out well in advance.
Bear in mind
Alam Shanti is a very welcoming, very personalised boutique hotel in Ubud with charming Balinese style rooms. Alam Shanti isn’t a luxury hotel.
Rooms don’t have TV’s. There is Wi-Fi in the public areas and can be accessed from most rooms, but it is quite patchy.

There is no kitchen at Alam Shanti.
There are plenty of places to eat nearby however and it's a pleasant walk into Ubud where the owner of Alam Shanti (Ketut) runs the iconic Cafe Wayan on Monkey Forest Road.
They run great cooking classes too.
