Siddhartha Oceanfront Resort

Siddhartha Oceanfront Resort is a luxury dive & spa resort in the unspoilt and very beautiful Northeast coastline of Bali by the small village of Kubu.

The combination of excellent dive facilities, a great spa, a fabulously unspoilt location and luxurious accommodation make Siddhartha Oceanfront Resort an ideal choice for those looking to combine great diving with quality relaxation time and a few spa treatments.

The Siddhartha boasts an excellent Werner Lau Dive Centre with easy access to the best diving in Bali.

With just 30 bungalows and villas, there is a good choice of accommodation at Siddhartha Oceanfront Resort, from Superior Bungalows to Ocean Front Bungalows and two very luxurious beachfront 2-bedroom pool villas (ideal for families or 2 couples travelling together).

What’s so Special?

We think Siddhartha Oceanfront Resort offers excellent value for money and is ideal for serious divers who want a bit of luxury as well.

Almost all the bungalows at Siddhartha Oceanfront Resort have ocean views because of the gently sloping landscape. The backdrop of Mount Agung also makes this a spectacular setting.

Werner Lau has a great reputation for excellence in diving, both in the Indian Ocean and in Bali – this is a real divers resort, not just a resort with a dive shop attached.

Eastern Bali is a beautiful part of the island, with a strong attachment to Balinese culture. Most of the staff at the resort are from the local village of Kubu.

Superior Bungalows

Each bungalow is furnished in Balinese style and features a terrace (45 sq. m), a semi open-air bathroom and a private patio with a Pergola. Located in the tropical garden, most Superior Bungalows have a view of the ocean.

Two of the 7 Superior Bungalows are inter-connecting and ideal for families.

Features:

  • Air con & ceiling fan
  • Minibar
  • IDD Phone
  • Safe

Tantris Restaurant

‘Tantris’ Restaurant, so named to reflect ‘pleasure without remorse!’ offers very high standards of dining in a lovely ocean view setting.

The menu can be described as ‘Asian Fusion’ and also includes Indonesian, Asian and International cuisine. BBQ evenings and themed buffets are frequent, often with the accompaniment of live music.

Breeze

A variety of snacks & drinks are available all day at “Breeze”, the pool-snack bar.

Nearby Dining

Siddhartha Oceanfront Resort is isolated and there is nothing outside the hotel within walking distance or even easy driving distance.

Costs of Dining

Siddharta is very reasonably priced for dining.

Pre-purchased Half Board and Full Board options are good value at Siddhartha, which isn't usually the case in Bali.

The large infinity swimming pool is purified by environmentally friendly salt electrolysis, a process that has health benefits.

A small gym with modern equipment is offered, as well as a Games Room with darts, table football, table tennis & billiards and a variety of board & card games.

The resort also has its own shop offering souvenirs such as pictures/photos, items of clothing and an assortment of handicrafts as well as every-day provisions.

A variety of local tours are offered in this fascinating part of the island.

Private Dive Gear

Private as well as rental equipment is stored at the Dive Centre. Staff load guests diving equipment for dive excursions into the transport vehicles and onto the dive boat, making a day’s diving as stress free as possible.

Safety

Dive boat & cars are equipped with oxygen, a first aid kit as well as mobile phone. The nearest diving doctor, who also operates the recompression chamber, is in Denpasar (Sanglah General Hospital, Diponegoro Street).

The House Reef

There is a stunning house reef directly in front of the hotel.  Up to 10m depth there are magnificent corals on here, below which are extremely large, individual coral balmies in various parts of the reef. Numerous fish as well as occasionally sharks & Napoleons can be seen.

In the west, the house reef continues on to Kubu Drop Off & Kubu Coral Garden, two of Bali’s most beautiful dive sites. These incredibly beautiful sloping reefs are covered with fields of hard staghorn coral (Acropora sp.) & numerous species of gorgeous soft coral (Dendronephthya spp.).

Rare species of crab, such as the Porcelain crab, as well as the tiny Cowry shell (Pseudosimnia sp.) can be seen here, and don’t forget to look out for Pygmy seahorses (Hippocampus bargibanti) on the deeper Gorgonian sea fans!

Practically every species of reef fish can be seen in abundance: schooling fish such as Chevron barracudas (Sphyraena putnamiae), big schools of basslets (Pseudoanthias spp.), as well as the solitary species of fish, e.g. large groupers.

And for the shark fans, there are white tip reef sharks & nurse sharks. With this amount & variety of fish species, one can spend the entire holiday diving only the house reef. There is seldom a strong current. Water temperatures vary between 26-29 degrees depending on the time of year.

Excursions

Other than shore dives, there are options of various dive sites that can be reached by boat within 3 – 60 minutes.

On full day excursions, during which 2 dives are done, sandwiches, fresh fruit, water and soft drinks are provided, included in the price of the dive package.

The time of departure for excursions to local sites such as Coral Stairs, Angels Canyon, Batu Karang, the Liberty Wreck, Batu Kelebit, Seraya, Ahmed or Gili Selang is between 07:30 & 09:30 in the morning.

Departure for excursions to Secret Bay, Menjangan, Padangbai, Nusa Penida (Manta Point) or Lovina will be between 05:30 & 07:30 in the morning.

Diving Regions

Practically all the “top sites” of Bali can be reached from Siddhartha. There is 1 boat (10m), big enough for 12 guests, as well as three small mini buses for overland transport, offering more flexibility.

A large selection of dive sites can be reached within 20 minutes – 1 hour, and Bali’s other highlights, such as Lovina in the north, Nusa Menjangan as well as Secret Bay in the west are around 2-3 hours away.

The dive sites around Pandangbai & Nusa Penida in the South Eastern region of Bali can be reached within 1.5 – 2 hours.

Tulamben

A highlight is the famous "Liberty" wreck as well as other top sites such as "Tulamben Drop Off" which can be reached in only a few minutes by boat.

Morning and afternoon excursions to Tulamben are about two hours long. Night dives from the boat on the "Liberty" wreck are also possible.

Nusa Penida

The undamaged reef on the eastern side of Bali is covered with stunning coral, where schooling fish as well as a large number of small and big fish species can be seen. An absolutely perfect site for a drift dive!

Experienced boat captains will guide you through every nook & cranny. It takes approx. 1.5 -2 hours to reach Padang Bai, from where it's another 30 minutes by speedboat.

Secret Bay

Regular day trips are offered (by car) to “Secret Bay” – one of the best sites in the world for seeing “critters”. The journey takes around 3 -3.5 hours.

Menjangan

Menjangan is a designated National Marine Park. Alongside Tulamben, Menjangan is considered Bali’s top diving region. There are a variety of dive sites, including coral gardens & stunning drop-offs. It takes around 2.5 – 3 hours, and a 40 minute boat trip to get to Menjangan.
