Possibly the best health and wellness resort in Thailand, Kamalaya enjoys a beautiful and serene setting in a quiet beachfront location in an undeveloped area of Southeast Koh Samui.
Kamalaya consists of a number of accommodation options and a wide range of treatment facilities, from Thai spa treatments to more holistic wellness programs - just ask us for details as these are constantly changing and evolving.
The setting is beautiful, with rooms and villas situated on a lush hillside overlooking a private beach.
Choose from Rooms, Sea View Suites and very luxurious private Pool Villas.
Stone pathways wind between boulders, greenery, lily ponds and swimming pools down to the private beach.
On coming across the site overlooking the sea, the owners of Kamalaya knew that this was the location for Kamalaya.
What's so Special?
The story of Kamalaya begins with the owner, a former practicing monk, who was inspired to found the retreat whilst living in the Himalayas.
Kamalaya is imbued with the spiritual energy of its founder and has evolved into a sophisticated yet unpretentious health and wellness retreat.
A fellow guest explained it nicely to us at Kamalaya. They said if you wanted to boast about going to a great health & wellness escape in Thailand then go to Chiva Som, but if you want the genuine article then go to Kamalaya.
Bear in mind
Kamalaya is all about having the space and pathway for rejuvenation. The atmosphere is quite relaxed and not at all monastic, but needless to say Kamalaya isn’t for night owls.
The hillside location means that it can be a bit of a walk down to, and up from the pool and beach.
The sea can also be a little bit shallow depending on the tide. The pool is great for swimming however if the sea is at low tide.
Hillside Rooms
The 24 Hillside Rooms (35 sq. m.) are cosy retreats simply designed and accented with natural furnishings. Nestled amidst magnificent boulders and trees, these rooms are minutes away from the hilltop Yoga Pavilion and Yantra Hall.
There are 18 Garden View and 6 sea View Hillside Rooms at Kamalaya. Many, but not all rooms feature balconies.
Suites
Great sea views, stylish uncomplicated design and comfortable furnishings are the main features of the Sea View Suites.
The 10 Sea View Suites (65 sq. m.) are situated at the top of the resort, close to Soma Restaurant and Alchemy Tea Lounge and all feature private balconies.
Most Suites also features outdoor showers and bathtubs.

As you would expect, cuisine at Kamalaya is very health focused.
