Day 1: Saigon - Can Tho

Pick up from your hotel or the airport in Saigon and drive to the Mekong Delta.

Immerse yourself fully in the local culture of the Mekong Delta with a day out to rustic Ben Tre.

A journey of about two and a half hours will bring you to a peaceful area of lush orchards, green rice paddies and coconut fields.

The fresh sweet coconut juice is said to be the best in the country.

The industrious local residents have found many other uses for the humble coconut, including turning them into household items and cosmetics.

Hop on a bike for a ride along the shady paths to visit the home of local antique collector, Uncle Six.

This friendly older man will welcome you into his home from where he also sells his ceramics.

If you're feeling fit, Uncle Six will even show you how to climb the coconut trees using just your bare hands.

Continue your two-wheeled exploration along rural pathways that wind their way alongside dense vegetation and small tributaries of the Mekong.

Board a rowing boat and cruise along the small canals under the shade of the coconut trees before transferring to a motorised boat.

After a delicious lunch of local specialties cooked by the host, visit some local workshops to see how rice paper and sticky coconut sweets are made.

Overnight Can Tho. Breakfast included.

Day 2: Chau Doc

Embark by boat to explore the bustling river life around Chau Doc; visit the Floating Villages, whose inhabitants live and work all their lives on the river.

Stop at one of the typical houses, and see how they raise fish in nets directly under the house itself.

Continue to a distinctive Cham Village, on the other side of the river, with its thriving Muslim community.

After returning to town, continue by vehicle to Sam Mountain, which rises sharply from the surrounding rice paddies.

Considered one of the most important pilgrimage sites in Vietnam, the mountain is dotted with pagodas and temples, many of them inside caves.

Visit Lady Chua Xu Pagoda at the base and continue up shallow stairways along the mountain, visiting other pagodas while ascending.

Overnight Chau Doc. Breakfast included.

Day 3: Chau Doc - Saigon

Depart from Chau Doc to Tra Su Forest located 25 km northeast of the Mekong River.

The forest is gaining an international reputation as an attractive destination for ecological and scientific research tours in the Mekong Delta.

It is home to 70-80 bird species and 11 other animal species. The flora is equally abundant with 140 species.

First take a motorboat to access the mangrove and then embark for a ride on a rowing little boat.

Back on land, climb the bird watching tower for a great view point over the bird sanctuary.

Return to your hotel in Saigon or to the airport for your onward departure.

Is this a Private Tour or a Group Tour?

All of our tours are private tailor made itineraries, customised for you - we can amend things to entirely suit you.

You will have your own private car, driver and guide on excursions.

What are the departure dates?

Let us know your preferred dates of travel and we will find the best and most suitable flights to fit your itinerary.

As this is a private tour, there are no set departure dates.

Which Airlines do you use?

We work with all the major airlines flying to this part of the world.

Typically for Vietnam & Cambodia, Vietnam Airlines, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines or Cathay Pacific would be airlines we most often use.

However, just let us know your preferred airline if you have one. We can organise flights from any regional destination in the UK.

Vietnam Airlines fly directly to both Hanoi and Saigon from the UK.

Which Hotels do you use?

We're careful with our choice of hotels, but we're guided by our customers also. If you have some preferred hotels, just let us know.

We specialise in boutique hotels and so we will often suggest some of our favourite smaller hotels where we think these will be suitable.

We keep on top of hotel developments in Indochina from our office in Vietnam and regularly inspect the hotels we use.

Do you cater for Solo Travellers?

Yes, we have many solo travellers, and Vietnam and Cambodia are both very safe, friendly and welcoming destinations for those travelling alone.

River cruises on the Mekong are a popular option for solo travellers, especially with Pandaw Cruises who offer no Single Supplements on many departures.

How long have you been organising holidays to Indochina?

We've been organising tailor made holidays to Vietnam for over 10 years.

Our team has a wealth of combined experience in the industry and our Director has been involved in organising holidays to Vietnam & Cambodia since the early 1990's.

Our partners on the ground in Indochina have over 20 years experience in operating there.

They understand the region extremely well and have a strong infrastructure of staff, guides and vehicles.

We've had the same partnership in Vietnam, Cambodia and Laos for over 10 years.

How does your office in Vietnam help?

We have our own staff in Saigon which helps in many ways with our customers in Vietnam and South East Asia.

It helps us to keep on top of any new hotel and travel developments in the region and forge stronger relationships with hotels and other partners.

We regularly do our own inspections of hotels and destinations in the region.

Should our clients need any assistance during a trip, we always have at least one of our own staff on the same time zone, and we're open 7 days a week in Saigon.
