Be amongst the few to enjoy this epic Mekong Cruise from Vientiane through Laos to the Golden Triangle region in Thailand.

Begin your journey with a short stop in Bangkok (optional) to discover the best of the Thai capital before flying to Vientiane to begin your Laos Mekong River Cruise journey.

From Vientiane, the old French capital, this is the first river expedition since pre-war days to cross all of Laos.

Cruise upstream visiting parts of rural Laos along the Mekong barely touched by tourism.

Stop two nights at the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Luang Prabang with its dazzling wood carved monasteries before sailing on deep into the mountains, through the rapids and gorges of the Mekong north of Luang Prabang.

Visit tribal villages and explore jungle and countryside before crossing into Thailand and on to the cultural city of Chiang Mai where the journey finishes.

Day 1: UK - Bangkok

Fly UK to Bangkok.

Day 2: Bangkok

On arrival in Bangkok you will be transferred to your chosen hotel, with the rest of the day to relax at leisure.

Overnight Bangkok: Breakfast included.

Day 3: Bangkok

Enjoy a full day excursion in Bangkok.

Visit the Grand Palace, Wat Pho, cruise the canals and visit Jim Thomson's House.

Day 4: Vientiane

After breakfast transfer to the airport for your flight to Vientiane where you will be met and  transferred on to the Pandaw.

Embarkation at 11.30am is followed by lunch and afternoon explorations of the delightful French city including visits to Sisaket Temple, the President’s Hall, Wat Prakeo Temple and the Phatouxay monument.

Set sail in the late afternoon and enjoy a welcome dinner on board and overnight near Vientiane.

Day 5: Mekong River

Today cruise upstream on the Mekong, passing lush jungle scenery and tiny riverside villages.

Enjoy a presentation on the Lao language and an afternoon cooking demonstration on the upper deck.

Arrive in Ban Xanakham to moor overnight.

Day 6: Pak Lai

In the afternoon visit the French administrative town of Pak Lai with its many colonial buildings and a bustling local market.

This town boasts the largest elephant festival in South East Asia, usually in February. Return to the ship at Ban Muang for overnight.

Day 7: Ban Park Bor

In the afternoon enjoy a walking tour in Ban Park Bor (Kmu Tribal) Village, a typical village, set on the banks of the Mekong amidst lush jungle.

In the afternoon pass the newly constructed lock that forms part of the Xanyaburi Hydro Electric Power Plant.

Day 8: Ban Muang Khai Village

In the morning visit a Hmong village and continue upstream to the village of Ban Mouang Khai.

In the afternoon enjoy an excursion by minibus visiting the jungle pools and dramatic Khaung Si waterfall then on to a butterfly garden.

Arrive in the heart of the temple city of Luang Prabang where there is a buzzing night market and many great cafes and local restaurants.

Day 9: Luang Prabang

In the morning explore Luang Prabang by tuk tuk. The city is a well-preserved and unique world heritage site with many Buddhist temples, libraries and royal palace.

Visit the National Museum and morning market, with the afternoon free to enjoy the beauty and unique atmosphere of Luang Prabang.

Enjoy traditional Laos dancing on the upper deck in the late afternoon.

Day 10: Luang Prabang

Enjoy an early morning walking tour to see the alms offering by locals to hundreds of monks who walk around the city every morning. Join in with offerings provided for the alms giving.

Enjoy a boat trip to the unique Pak Ou Caves, a Buddhist sanctuary with spectacular limestone cliff faces.

Sail upstream towards Ban Bo and enjoy a cooking demonstration on the upper deck.

Day 11: Pak Beng

Enjoy a morning visit to a local Khamo village. After lunch, sail upstream on the Mekong passing Pak Beng towards Pak Sit.

Day 12: Ban Houayxay

Enjoy an early morning walking tour in a Khamo village before cruising through stunning scenery to the border of Laos and Thailand.

The night is spent on the Lao side in the Houayxay area where a late afternoon village walk will be organised.

Day 13: Chiang Saen (Thailand)

Cruise upriver to the Town of Chiang Sean for the border crossing at the Golden Triangle.

Enjoy farewell cocktails and Thai traditional dance on board for your last evening.

Day 14: Chiang Mai (Thailand)

Disembark by 8.30am in Chiang Saen and explore the Golden Triangle including a visit to the opium museum before continuing on to Chiang Mai.

Day 15: Chiang Mai (Thailand)

Enjoy a full day tour of Chiang Mai.

Visit the famous Wat Doi Suthep, Wat Phra Sing, Wat Suan Dok and Wat Chedi Luang.

Day 16: Chiang Mai - UK

Transfer to the airport for your flight back to the UK.

The RV Laos Pandaw

The RV Laos Pandaw has just 9 cabins over two decks.

On the Main Deck are 6 Staterooms whilst the Upper Deck has 3 Premium Staterooms.

The Staterooms are one of the highlights of Pandaw. All Staterooms are approximately 17 sq. m. in size, finished in teak and brass with panoramic French windows.

The 79 cm draught means that the RV Angkor can cruise rivers at extremely shallow water levels.

Dining on board is of a very high standard with a local master chef heading an experienced international culinary team.

Breakfast and lunch are both semi-buffet and dinners are usually themed, with nightly entertainment.Daily lean & light menu options are available.

Complimentary coffee, water, tea, soft drinks, local beer, local spirits, juices are included and an extensive wine list with premium wines is available.

On board, a series of cultural performances, educational talks, cooking classes, and ship tours are included.
