Pelican Beach is located on a 15-acre private island and is one of the few islands off Belize that sit right atop the barrier reef.

Comfortable Belizean styled wooden cottages all feature private verandas ideally positioned for sunrise and sunset. Family rooms are also available in the main building.

There’s enough to do for the restless (beyond hammock-testing), including great snorkelling right off the beach (and guided night snorkelling), dive trips, island hopping and kayaking.

South Water Caye is in the middle of Belize's largest marine protected area, and offers great birding and diving and habitats such as mangrove islands and exposed sand bores.

Snorkelling is good right off the southern tip of the island and additional trips to a variety of patch reefs, "the drop off" and mangrove habitats are all easily arranged.

Pelican Beach is located on South Water Caye, which is 14 miles off-shore from the mainland town of Dangriga, where Pelican Beach’s sister resort is located.

It’s about 40 minutes by boat to South Water Caye across the inner lagoon and past several islands including Coco Plum, Man O War Caye and Twin Cayes.
