Beho Beho
Beho Beho offers privacy and exclusivity in a highland location in the Selous and is one of the finest safari camps in Tanzania.
Beho Beho's guides plan and tailor guests safari programmes according to requirements, whether that means time to relax and be pampered or enjoy a 10 km game walk before breakfast!
Beho Beho consists of just 8 spacious and private stone and palm-thatched cottages, known as ‘bandas’, which open up to reveal superb views of the African bush.
Beho Beho has open-sided lounges and dining areas, a cocktail bar and a billiards room offering a sophisticated setting for post safari relaxation, with a swimming pool and deck offering the ideal place to cool off.
From Beho Beho it’s possible to explore a unique array of varying biodiversity, from riverine forest, miombo woodland and plains to the fascinating lake regions of Tagalala and Mwanze.
Activities at Beho Beho include Game Drives in open-sided safari jeeps, walking safaris with bush breakfasts and boat trips on Lake Tagalala.
There is always something 'happening' around Beho Beho and the camp is located on a crossroads of animal migratory routes and it is common to find elephant, buffalo, waterbuck, giraffe, wild dog or hyena to name just a few, wandering through the camp at any time of the day or night.
What’s so Special?
Beho Beho is a safari camp for safari aficionados - a luxurious base camp from which to explore on foot, by boat or by open safari cruiser the splendours of one of the largest game preserves in the world.
Beho Beho specialises in walking safaris, usually starting early in the morning before the heat of the day. Walks can last from an hour to three hours culminating in breakfast at a prearranged shady spot in the bush.
Things are fully inclusive at Beho Beho, meaning there is nothing to pay whilst you are staying there. Send laundry everyday, have a drink or a snack, or a glass of fizz with your breakfast - go ahead.
Bear in Mind
Unlike most Selous safari camps, which are set on the Rufiji River bank or flood plain, Beho Beho enjoys a cooler highland location in the Selous, enjoying the 'cooling breezes' from which its name derives.
Bear in Mind that Beho Beho is not a safari camp in the true sense of the name as the structures are permanent, being stone and thatch constructions. This is not a camp for those looking for the 1920’s style original safari camp style.
Owned and run by the Bailey family for over thirty years, Beho Beho retains the feel of staying in a private family home.
