Japan Family Adventure

This family holiday in Japan is designed to combine the country’s classic sights with hands-on activities, memorable experiences and plenty of variety for children and adults alike.

Begin in Tokyo, with time to explore the city and a private family-focused tour included. There is also time for a day trip to Nikko, a sushi-making class and a full day at Tokyo Disney Resort.

Continue to Hakone for a night in a traditional ryokan, with views of Mount Fuji, a lake cruise and a ropeway journey all adding to the experience.

Travel on to Kyoto, where included sightseeing introduces the city’s temples and traditional districts. A hands-on arts and crafts workshop is also included, along with a day trip to Nara to see the Great Buddha and the friendly deer.

From Kyoto, continue to Hiroshima for a self-guided visit to the Peace Memorial Park and Museum, together with a ferry trip to Miyajima Island.

The journey finishes in Osaka, where you can enjoy the neon-lit streets of Dotonbori and take part in either a taiko drumming or shamisen workshop. Pre-arranged tickets for Universal Studios Japan are also included.

All of our Japan family holidays are private, tailor-made itineraries - customised entirely around you. This trip includes family-friendly stays in Tokyo, Hakone, Kyoto and Osaka, plus flights, accommodation, rail travel and transfers.

We can of course adjust the pace, hotels and activities depending on the ages and interests of your children.

Yes - Japan is one of our favourite destinations for families. It is safe, clean, efficient and full of experiences that work brilliantly for children and teenagers.

From bullet trains and castles to anime, food markets, temples, gardens and hands-on cultural experiences, there is a huge amount to keep everyone interested.

What are the departure dates?

As this is a private trip, there are no fixed departure dates - we work around your preferred travel dates and find the best flights to match.

School holidays can be busy, especially Easter and summer, so we recommend planning as early as possible.

Which hotels do you use?

We use carefully chosen hotels that work well for families, with good locations, practical room options and easy access to transport.

• Family rooms are limited in Japan, so early booking is important
• Interconnecting rooms are not always guaranteed, but we’ll prioritise them where possible
• Rooms can be compact, especially in Tokyo and Kyoto
• Location matters - being close to the right station makes family travel much easier
