Day 1: Saigon – Can Tho

Pick up from your hotel in Saigon and depart for the Mekong Delta. First visit a brickworks, 5 km from Ben Tre town. See how to make bricks by hand and visit coconut processing workshops along the canals.

Take a boat trip on the Ben Tre River and head off along a small natural canal and on to a village by rowboat. Take a short walk to a farmer’s house where mattresses are woven.

Take a rickshaw ride along shady paths by green rice fields and vegetable plains. Rejoin the vehicle and transfer to Nam Cong Bonsai Garden which showcases bonsai and topiary. Afterwards head to the Victoria Can Tho for check in.

Overnight Victoria Can Tho. Breakfast included.

Day 2: Can Tho – Saigon

Start early by boat to explore Cai Rang Floating Market, the biggest and most bustling of the Mekong Delta markets, which attracts fruit and vegetable vendors from all over the Mekong Delta. Buyers on smaller boats weave between the large barges selling wholesale produce.

Each vendor advertises fresh samples of their wares on long poles that tower overhead above the colourful boats. Sail through the market, watching people haggle and trade, and possibly sample some of the fruit yourself. By 9 am, the activity has died down and it’s time to return to the pier, after exploring some of the backwaters and canals.

Head from Can Tho to Chau Doc with a visit to Lady Chua Xu Pagoda at the base of Sam Mountain. The pagoda has 200 statues carved in precious wood.

Visit the Temple of Thoai Ngoc Hau before checking in to Victoria Resort Chau Doc.

Overnight Victoria Chau Doc Resort. Breakfast included.

Day 3: Floating Villages – Saigon

Explore the bustling river life around Chau Doc. Visit floating villages whose inhabitants live and work all their lives on the river. Visit a local floating market and stop at a typical house to see how the locals breed fish in nets directly under the houses.

Continue to the distinctive Cham Village, on the other side of the river, with its thriving Muslim community before heading back to your hotel in Saigon.
