Sanctuary Baines' Camp
Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is a new camp in Stanley’s Concession, neighbouring the Moremi Game Reserve.
Small, intimate and relaxed, with just five luxurious suites, Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is set amongst shady trees and the waterways of the Okavango Delta.
The main area of Sanctuary Baines’ Camp has a large deck for outdoor dining with beautiful views of the Boro River and the lagoon teeming with life.
The swimming pools’ two salas provide much needed shade during the heat of the day.
All suites at Sanctuary Baines’ Camp have spacious and luxurious bedrooms, polished wooden floors and beautiful en-suite bathrooms.
At Sanctuary Baines’ Camp visitors can explore this private concession either by land, mokoro or motorboat and walking safaris are a specialty, with skilled guides who will introduce you to this wild and untamed corner of Botswana.
Sanctuary Baines Camp has just 5 Suites and offers great views over the Boro River and a lagoon teeming with game.
What’s so Special?
The four-poster beds are fully mobile, giving guests the choice to either sleep inside or outside on the deck, under the stars.
The Living with Elephants experience is a real highlight of a stay here. It is an additional cost but is a truly unique experience and involves walking with two rescued orphaned elephants on a morning safari walk.
The Suites walls are constructed from recycled drinks cans, wire mesh and elephant-dung – interesting, but surprisingly attractive and eco-friendly.
The raised deck of the main lodge area is a lovely place to relax during the day, to the sound of hippos snorting in the lagoon below.
Because Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is in a private concession, both day and night game drives are offered.
Walking Safaris are really nice here, with a complex local ecology.
Bear in Mind
Sanctuary Baines’ Camp is reached by a 15 minute flight from Maun and a 45 minute transfer.
Children over the age of 12 are welcome.
The five spacious, light and airy suites at Baines’ Camp have solid walls, thatched roofs and French doors opening on to a large raised wooden deck. The overall feeling is quite romantic.
The four-poster beds are draped with mosquito nets and can be wheeled out on to the deck for those who fancy a night under the stars.
There are 3 twin and 2 double rooms, each with white-washed walls. Bathrooms feature flush toilets, showers, double vanities.
