Hotel Niwa is a great value mid range hotel in Tokyo with a great blend of traditional Japanese style with plenty of modern touches and facilities.

The location is in a quiet area of Suidobashi in central Tokyo within easy reach of the Metro and Suidobashi JR Station, which are both under 5-minutes stroll away.

Niwa means ‘patio’ in Japanese and the hotel has a lovely green feel with a garden patio.

Rooms at the Niwa are reasonably spacious by Japanese standards (space is tight in Japan) and the beds are more comfortable than in many Tokyo hotels.

We love the wooden interiors, the soft lighting, the traditional Japanese touches and the attention to detail.

The Niwa attracts plenty of western guests and the staff consequently have good levels of English and are very helpful.

The lounge has two massage chairs, which are free to use.

What’s so Special?

Niwa Hotel has great design, from the recycled glass lighting of the lobby to the traditional clay wall exteriors and floor to ceiling lobby windows.

We love the Niwa because it has a really nice Japanese style. Tokyo can be quite a daunting city to arrive in, but the Niwa is a great place to arrive, settle in and get your bearings.

Bear in mind

There’s not too much around the hotel – not many restaurants in the immediate vicinity. There is a convenience store next door however and the quiet location is appealing to many visitors to Tokyo.

Floor space is tight in Tokyo. Rooms at the Niwa are quite generous by Tokyo standards but you might not think so if this is the first place you arrive at.

The Niwa is a non-smoking hotel.
