The Southwest monsoon is the prevailing feature of the West Coast of Malaysia in June. Short sharp downpours usually late in the afternoon or early in the evening characterize the weather on the West Coast. Temperatures average in the low 30’s.
On the East Coast of Peninsula Malaysia, June is characterized by sunny cloudless days with very little rainfall. The dive resorts in the Perhentian Islands, Redang and Tioman Island are very popular during this time of year as the weather is perfect for diving and snorkelling.
In Borneo, June is also a perfect time to visit much of the island for long sunny days and clear skies. Rainfall is usually low in much of Sabah, making this a good time for a tour of Borneo or for visiting offshore islands such as Lankayan or the dive islands further south.
On the North Coast of Sabah around Kota Kinabalu, the rainfall begins to pick up again and some afternoon showers can usually be expected.
In Sarawak, drier weather continues, making this an optimum month for a tour of Borneo or visit to the wildlife lodges in Sabah or Sarawak.
