May Holiday Inspiration

May marks the beginning of the rainy season in much of South East Asia but equally, drier conditions in many regions.

May is one of the best times of year to visit Borneo and the East Coast of Malaysia has come under the influence of the dry season.

May is an excellent time of year to visit Bali or Lombok as the climate is ideal and prices are lower than in the peak season months of July and August.

In Thailand, although Phuket, Krabi and Khao Lak can see some rainy days, Koh Samet is still a good option in the Gulf of Thailand, being the driest region of Thailand.

May marks the start of the low season for touring in Cambodia, Laos and Myanmar. This is not a bad time of year to visit however, as crowds in popular areas such as Angkor Wat can be much lower and availability of hotel accommodation in Myanmar is much higher.

Central Vietnam has a good climate at this time of year making Hoi An a great choice for a beach holiday to Vietnam in April.

Mauritius is a year-round destination and May in the Seychelles usually ushers in slightly lower temperatures but windier conditions.

May is still a reasonable time of year to visit Oman and the UAE, as temperatures are still tolerable but rising.
