Highlights of Israel - 7 nights

When you have a browse through this itinerary you'll begin to realise just how much there is to see in Israel.

You'll begin and end the trip in Tel Aviv, a vibrant, cosmopolitan city by the sea.

From Tel Aviv head to Masada and the Negev for a journey back to Roman times and deep into Jewish history. Float in the Dead Sea before heading to Jerusalem.

Jerusalem is one of the world's great travel destinations. Visit the Old City, the Garden of Olives, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, the Garden of Gethsemane and Mount Zion. Wandering the streets of the Old City is like stepping back in time.

You'll also visit the biblical sites of Bethlehem, Nazareth and the tranquil Sea of Galilee, plus the Golan Heights, Druze Villages and Safad.

You'll visit the great historic coastal sites including Caesarea, Acra and Old Jaffa, along with the Baha'i Shrina at Haifa.

Day 1: Fly UK to Tel Aviv

Fly to Tel Aviv with British Airways (or with your preferred airline).

On arrival in Tel Aviv you will be met and transferred to your hotel by private car.

Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Negev - Masada - Dead Sea - Jerusalem

After breakfast you will be collected by your driver for your trip to the Negev Desert.

You'll pass Ashdod and Ashkelon on the way to Be'er Sheva (Beersheba) for a short visit to the Negev desert.

Continue via Arad to Masada where you'll take the cable car up to the fortress. Masada is famous for being the last hold out for the Jews in their battle against the Romans.

In Masada you'll visit the excavations, the Synagogue, King Herod’s Palace and the bathhouse. There are striking  views over towards the Dead Sea and where the Roman camps were situated.

Afterwards, descend to the Dead Sea where you shouldb have the chance to take a dip and see if you float.

You'll pass by the oasis of Ein Gedi and through the Judean desert on the way back to Jerusalem.

Day 3: Jerusalem - Bethlehem

After breakfast you'll be collected for a morning tour of Jerusalem and an afternoon visit to Bethlehem.

Begin the day at the Israel museum’s Shrine of the Book home to the famous Dead Sea Scrolls. You'll also see  the renovated model of the Herodian city of Jerusalem, a 1:50 scale model of the city as it was in Roman times.

Ein Karem was the birthplace of John the Baptist and you'll make a stop here, along with a visit to Yad Vashem, the memorial to the Jewish victims of the Holocaust at the foot of Mt. Hertzl.

Finally visit Bethlehem, the birthplace of Jesus where you'll make a visit to the Church of the Nativity and Manger Square.

Day 4: Jerusalem

After breakfast you'll be collected for a full day tour of the Old City of Jerusalem.

You'll enter the old city via one of the gates of the walled and head to the Western Wall and the Temple Mount.

You'll stroll along the Via Dolorosa to the Church of the Holy Sepulchre. From here you'll drive to Mt Zion for a visit to the Tomb of King David and the Room of the Last Supper.

From the top the Mount of Olives you can enjoy superb sweeping views over Jerusalem.

Finally, visit the Garden of Gethsemane where Judas was supposed to have betrayed Jesus and then visit Mahane Yehuda to experience the largest open market in Israel.

Day 5: Sea of Galilee - Jordan Valley - Nazareth

Today you'll journey through the Jordan Valley and visit Beit She'an where you can see the excavations of this beautifully preserved Roman city.

Next, head to Nazareth for a visit to the Church of the Annunciation, before travelling to Safed, city of the Kabbalah, where you can enjoy a walk through the lovely streets & the artists’ colony.

Day 6: Sea of Galilee - Golan Heights

This morning you'll visit the Golan Heights, where you'll be able to see the former Syrian Fortifications and pass through Druze Villages. Here you'll also see Banias, the source of the Jordan River.

Next, take a tour of Israel's wine country and enjoy a wine tasting experience, among vineyards surrounded by magnificent views.

Head down to the shores of the Sea of Galilee, visit the Mount of Beatitudes and the ruins of the ancient synagogue.

Visit Tabgha, where the miracle of the loaves and fishes took place, and continue to Tiberias for a short tour of the old centre of Jewish learning.

Day 7: Acre - Caesarea - Haifa - Jaffa - Tel Aviv

After breakfast travel west to Acre (Akko) for a visit to the old famous Crusader stronghold and medieval fortifications.

From here, move on to Haifa for a panoramic sightseeing tour including the Baha’I Shrine, Persian Garden and Mt Carmel where you'll have a great view of the city and bay.

Continue along the coast to Caesarea to visit the Roman theatre and the Crusader fortress.

Complete your day with a short city tour of Tel Aviv and the ancient port city of Jaffa.

Day 8: Tel Aviv – UK

You will be collected from your hotel in Tel Aviv and transferred to the airport by private car for your onward flight.

Fly from Tel Aviv direct to Heathrow with British Airways.

Arrive back in the UK.
