Is this a Private Tour or a Group Tour?

All of our Canada and Japan tours are private, tailor-made itineraries, designed entirely around you. Every aspect can be customised to suit your interests, pace, and travel style.

Your itinerary may include a mix of independent exploration and guided experiences. In Japan, this often means guided excursions in key cities such as Tokyo, Kyoto, or Kanazawa, while in the Canada it may include pre-booked tours, experiences, or scenic drives with car rental.

What are the Departure Dates?

As this is a private trip, there are no fixed departure dates. Simply let us know your preferred travel dates and we will find the most suitable flights and routing.

We can also advise on the best times to travel to both Canada and Japan, as well as periods to avoid due to weather, peak seasons, or major local events.

Which Airlines do you use?

We work with all major airlines flying to both destinations.

  • Japan: Commonly British Airways, Japan Airlines, and Finnair (which often offers excellent fares and fast connections via Helsinki).

  • USA: Typically Air Canada, British Airways, Westjet, and other major carriers.

We are happy to use your preferred airline and can arrange departures from any regional UK airport. There are direct flights from the UK to major hubs including Tokyo, Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal and more.

Which Hotels do you use?

We carefully select hotels based on location, comfort, and value, while always taking your preferences into account.

  • We specialise in boutique hotels, smaller luxury properties, and well-located character hotels where available.

  • In Japan, boutique options are limited in major cities, and hotels tend to be functional and compact—particularly in Tokyo, where room sizes are among the smallest in the world. If room size is important, please let us know.

  • In large Canadian cities, hotels can also be smaller and more business-oriented, with higher nightly rates.

  • Location is especially important in both countries. In Japan, being close to train stations can save significant time. In the Canada, proximity to attractions, transport links, or parking is key.

  • Hotel check-in and check-out times in Japan are often strict (check-in around 3pm, check-out 10–11am).

  • Some Canadian hotels charge resort or facility fees, which we will highlight clearly at booking.

Is Japan / Canada Expensive?

It depends, but both destinations offer excellent value when planned well.

in Japan dining ranges from inexpensive ramen and yakitori to high-end kaiseki. The Japan Rail Pass offers outstanding value. Taxis, ryokan stays, and private guides can be more costly, so we often balance guided tours with independent time.

In the Canada costs vary widely by region. Car rental offers flexibility and value, especially outside major cities. There are many free or low-cost attractions, including scenic drives, national parks, and museums. Dining suits all budgets, from food trucks to fine dining.

We design itineraries to balance comfort, experience, and value in both countries.

Car Rental & Driving (Canada & Japan)

  • Canada: Many itineraries include car rental, particularly for exploring scenic regions such as the Rockies or coastal British Columbia. We advise on insurance, navigation, parking costs, and one-way rental fees where applicable. A valid UK licence is required, and an International Driving Permit (IDP) is recommended.

  • Japan: Driving is less common for city-based itineraries as public transport is so good.

What’s Included in the Price?

Your quotation will clearly show what’s included — such as flights, accommodation, car hire, and any pre-booked experiences. Local taxes, resort fees, and gratuities are often not included and vary by location or hotel. We’ll outline these clearly so there are no surprises. A deposit is usually required to confirm your booking, with the balance due closer to departure. We’ll provide full payment details when you receive your quotation.

How Much Luggage Can I Take?

Baggage allowances vary by airline, particularly on internal flights within the Canada or Japan. We’ll advise you in advance and ensure internal flights align with your international ticket wherever possible.

Do I Need a Visa or Travel Authorisation?

  • Canada: UK passport holders must obtain an eTA (Electronic Travel Authorization) before travel.

  • Japan: UK passport holders can generally enter visa-free for short stays.

If you are not a UK passport holder or plan to stay longer, please let us know so we can advise correctly.

Will My Mobile Phone Work?

Most UK networks offer roaming in both countries, though charges vary. Local SIMs or eSIMs are often better value, particularly in Japan. We can advise on the best options.

How Do You Manage Jet Lag & Travel Pace?

Travelling across multiple time zones can be tiring, so we design itineraries with sensible pacing, rest time after arrival, and realistic travel days. We’ll also provide practical tips to help manage jet lag.

Do You Cater for Solo Travellers & Families?

Absolutely! Both the Canada and Japan are safe and easy to navigate, for solo travellers and families, with excellent infrastructure.

We tailor trips for all ages and interests, including wildlife, anime, sports, national parks, culture, history, and food experiences.

Can You Arrange Tours & Activities?

Absolutely. We can pre-book a variety of activities, from city tours and food experiences to guided hikes, national park passes, and scenic train journeys.

Do I Need Travel Insurance?

Yes. Comprehensive travel insurance is essential. Your policy should cover medical care, cancellations, and car rental excess where applicable.

How Does the Booking Process Work?

Once we’ve discussed your preferences, we’ll create a detailed custom itinerary for your review. After confirmation, we’ll finalise all arrangements and provide full travel documentation before departure. You’ll also have access to 24-hour assistance while travelling.

How Long Have You Been Organising Holidays to Canada & Japan?

With over 15 years of specialist experience in Japan and more than 10 years in Canada, our team has extensive first-hand knowledge of both destinations.
