Orient Guesthouse
Orient Guesthouse Dubai is a traditional two-storey villa restored to its former glory and re-incarnated as a boutique hotel in the traditional maze-like alleys of the Bastakia Heritage district of old Dubai.
Boutique hotels in Dubai are a rarity, but Orient Guesthouse has just eleven Arabian styled rooms and a majlis (lounge) offering guests a glimpse of times gone by in Dubai.
Orient Guesthouse’s roof terrace and courtyards provide tranquil spots in which to relax and enjoy the peaceful surroundings and there is a cozy Courtyard Cafe, serving breakfast and light meals, snacks, tea, coffee and drinks throughout the day.
Guests have access to the facilities of the nearby Arabian Courtyard Hotel & Spa located just 5 minutes stroll away. These include a swimming pool, fitness centre and spa.
In the heart of lively Bur Dubai surroundings, Orient Guesthouse is within walking distance of the Dubai Museum, Meena Bazaar, Dubai Creek & the Abra Station (water taxi) to cross over to the souks.
What’s so Special?
The location in the old part of Dubai offers a refreshing alternative to the large anonymous resorts of which Dubai has dozens.
The location means that the stone alleys, wind towers, art galleries and cafés of the old part of Dubai give a taste of old Arabia.
Bear in mind
Orient Guesthouse is a simple but well run guesthouse, not a luxury boutique hotel – so bear in mind its limitations. Rooms aren’t huge and they aren’t luxurious. Service is professional and friendly and there is 24-hour butler assistance.
A stay at Orient Guesthouse will suit those looking for something different in Dubai – a boutique hotel that is the polar opposite of the big and brash hotels in Dubai.
Rooms
There two types of room to choose from; Heritage and Mumtaz Rooms. High-ceilinged rooms are simply furnished in Arabian style with cool floor tiles and dark wood furniture.
Some rooms feature four-poster beds and all have simple en-suite bathrooms with bathtubs. Bathrooms are fairly small and some of the showerheads are a little bit old.
Patios outside the rooms offer small seating areas and rooms feature a writing desk and sofa and are furnished with traditional rugs.
Features:
- Air Con
- TV
Courtyard Café
Located in the centre of the Orient Guesthouse, the Courtyard Café has traditional architectural décor and design and serves light snacks and soft drinks (no alcohol) all day.
They also brew Starbucks Coffee, although it’s not a proper Starbucks.
English-Arabic breakfast is made to order every morning, which is served in the elegant courtyard in the winter months and in-room during the summer.
Orient Guesthouse is a small guesthouse in the old part of Dubai and doesn't have much in the way of facilities on site.
