Nika Island Resort

Nika Island Resort is a tiny Maldives island resort in the north Ari Atoll, acceesible by seaplane from Male in 25 minutes and featuring just 43 villas.

There are 6 Garden rooms, 10 Beach Villas, 10 Deluxe Beach Villas, 3 Family Beach Villas, 3 Family Deluxe Beach Villas, 1 Sultan Suite and 10 Water Villas on an island surrounded by a stunning house reef and set amongst lush vegetation.

Each villa on the island has its own sandy private beach and comes equipped with jacuzzi, sun beds, swing and outdoor shower.

Thanks to the dense vegetation between the villas, you will enjoy absolute privacy at a stone's throw from the clear sea.

Villas are spacious (75 sq. m) and feature a large living room, bedroom, garden bathroom.

Italian, international and ethnic cuisine is served buffet-style at lunch and "à la carte" at dinner, with a selection of over 100 wines.

The Coffee Shop is located close to the main beach. Here you can enjoy music, ‘happy hours', wonderful sunsets, board games, a library and satellite TV.

The Bepi Bar next to the restaurant is built with its roof representing the hull of a dhoni, the traditional Maldivian boat, and it's the perfect corner to chill out and enjoy the breeze of the ocean. Both bars have free wi-fi connection.

Activities include sunset fishing by boat, water-ski-ing, wake-boarding, catamarans, canoes, windsurfers, fun-tubes, big game fishing (with dhoni or speed boat), snorkelling by boat, and excursions to the fishermen islands nearby.

What's so Special?

All land based villas have their own private beach area which is something unique amongst Maldives resorts.

Nika Island Resort is sold on a Full Board basis and is very good value indeed.

There is an excellent house reef here which will keep snorkellers very happy.

The resort is named after a giant Banyan Tree (Nika) which is thought to be around 350 years old.

Bear in Mind

There's just the one restaurant at Nika Island Resort but there is a wide variety of cuisines on offer.

There is a charge for many of the activities and facilities.

Getting to Nika Island Resort is by seaplane, a short 25-minute hop away.

Beach Villas

10 Beach villas (75 sq. m)are located on the North-East side of the island.

These spacious, detached villas boast private beaches surrounded by lush green foliage.

The outdoor Jacuzzi is a small oasis of absolute peace. Just a few steps away you can plunge into the warm waters of the Indian Ocean.

Deluxe Beach Villas

10 Deluxe Beach Villas (100 sq. m) are located on the South-West side of the island.

Each Deluxe Beach Villa featuring one double bedroom with turquoise lagoon view and a generous living room.

Each villa has a private beach in front of the lagoon, with a large thatched umbrella and sun loungers. Lush foliage between the villas provides plenty of privacy.

Water Villas

8 Water Villas (75 sq. m) are set out on the water, set on wooden stilts stretching on the North-East side of the island.

With private sundecks and steps that lead down into the water, each Water Villa offers direct access to the lagoon.

The uniqueness of these Water Villas is in their 3 split levels sundecks : the first and lowest just kisses the sea, the second one is a deck with wide terrace and deckchairs with white sand and the third is situated on the roof.

Which Airlines do you use?

We work with all the major airlines flying to the Maldives.

Typically for the Maldives we will use British Airways for direct flights to the Maldives between November and March.

Sri Lankan Airlines is also a great option for flights to the Maldives, especially of course if combining the Maldives with a Sri Lanka tour.

The flying time for direct flights is around 10 hours, making the Maldives a little shorter flying time than going to South East Asia.

We also commonly use Emirates via Dubai, Qatar Airways via Doha and Etihad via Abu Dhabi. These all allow stopover options in the Arabian Gulf to create a multi-centre holiday.

Regional connections from across the UK are available.

Which Hotels do you use?

We're careful with our choice of resorts in the Maldives, but we're guided by our customers also. If you have some preferred hotels, just let us know.

We specialise in boutique & luxury hotels and so we will often suggest some of our favourite smaller luxury hotels where we think these will be suitable.

We understand that choosing a resort in the Maldives can be a bit bewildering, especially as they all look so similar!

That's where our expertise can help - it's always useful to speak to someone who's been to lots of different islands in the Maldives.

Do I need a visa for the Maldives?

If you're travelling on British Passports, no visa is required for stays of up to a month.

Please double check before travel however as visa requirements are subject to change at any time.

How long have you been organising holidays to the Maldives?

We've been organising tailor made holidays to the Maldives since 2009.

We use a very reliable local partner in the Maldives for transfers and to assist our clients in the Maldives. They are a family owned company who are one of the most established and respected local travel companies.

We keep up to date with developments in the Maldives with regular visits and through our local contacts.

When is the best time to visit the Maldives?

The driest time of year to visit the Maldives is normally between November and March. This is high season in the Maldives and you can expect dry and settled conditions most of the time.

What board basis should I choose in the Maldives?

You'll find there is a wide range of options in the Maldives, from b&b, Half and Full Board, All Inclusive and variations on All Inclusive options.

Because of the isolated location, dining in the Maldives is expensive by almost any standard. Bear this in mind when comparing meal options.

How do I get to my resort in the Maldives?

Some resorts in the Maldives can be reached by speedboat from Male. This makes for a convenient and easy transfer. You'll be met at the airport on arrival and taken on foot the short distance to your boat transfer.

Seaplane transfers in the Maldives are used for islands further afield. These are usually in 18-seater De Havilland Twin Otters which fly in daylight hours only, departing from the seaplane port next to the International Airport.
