Chobe Game Lodge is an iconic Game Lodge set within the Chobe National Park, by the Chobe River, just 100km west of Vic Falls.

The lodge is fairly large, with 48 rooms and is designed with a Moorish influence, tiled floors, vaulted ceilings and nicely furnished rooms.

Chobe Game Lodge offers an excellent location inside the Chobe National Park.

The lodge is good for families as being built of bricks and mortar (as opposed to canvas), the lodge has a very solid and secure feeling which is better for those less comfortable being out in the bush under canvas.

The lodge is fenced although smaller animals can still walk through the property.

The boardwalk along the river is a real highlight and many guests enjoy sitting and viewing the river and wildlife from here.

Rooms were upgraded substantially in 2015 and the hotel has worked tirelessely on it's eco credentials which are the highest in Botswana.

What’s so Special?

We love Chobe Game Lodge for it's tranquil ambience and superb location within Chobe National Park.

All rooms overlook the Chobe River and the setting is really wonderful.

Chobe Game Lodge is the only game lodge in Chobe National Park in this specific area around Kasane.

This means that guests staying here can go out straight away on game drive without having to drive to the park entrance.

Bear in mind

The Lodge was built in 1972 and has been host to a range of celebreties over the years, including Richard Burton and Elizabeth Taylor who brought a lot of publicity to the lodge in 1975.

Children under 8 years are welcome but cannot participate in game drives.

Rooms are furnished with teak. Although they aren’t especially spacious, all rooms do overlook the river which is a real plus point.

In addition to the 48 rooms, Chobe Game Lodge has 4 luxury suites. Each Suite offers a private pool and amazing views of the plains.

Dining

The bar features pool tables and a terrace overlooking the Chobe River.

The boma is set under a huge mahogany tree and the restaurant offers dining with views over the river.

Day 1: Kasane – Chobe Game Lodge

On arrival at Kasane Airport, you will be driven to the lodge in a safari vehicle – a mini game drive that introduces the wildlife of the Chobe National Park.

There will be time to settle into the lodge.

On the way to your room you may see Warthog “mowing the lawn”, friendly Bushbuck or lively Mongooses.

After tea set out to explore the region on a game viewing activity - either a game drive or river cruise.

Overnight Chobe Game Lodge. All meals included.

Day 2: Chobe Game Lodge

In the morning there will be an early wake-up call followed by a cup of coffee/tea and muffins before setting out on the morning game drive.

Keep a look out for animals such as Wild Dog and Elephants. During your Chobe tour you may see all the Big Five in the park, as well as other animals such as Zebra and Giraffe.

The guides are all very enthusiastic and knowledgeable, and abound with stories about life in the bush.

Around mid-morning, the drive will return to the lodge, where a brunch that consists of a huge buffet spread will be waiting.

Afterwards there will be some time to relax, perhaps sit on the viewing deck overlooking the river or enjoy a refreshing swim in the pool.

In the late afternoon a tasty high tea with delicious treats is served out on the deck. This is followed by a cruise up the Chobe River, which is a good opportunity to see the Chobe Elephants coming down to drink.

In the evening the lodge may offer a boma dinner – a great opportunity to sample traditional dishes and enjoy live entertainment in the form of a marimba band and traditional singing.

Afterwards, spend time in the games room and have a game of pool or learn about the southern stars during a star gazing session.

Overnight Chobe Game Lodge. All meals included.

Day 3: Chobe Game Lodge - Kasane

On the final morning of your Chobe safari head out on one last early morning game drive, perhaps coming across Lions on a kill or a Leopard slipping into the riverine forest.

Once back at the lodge, there will be time for brunch before being driven to the airport at Kasane for your onward flight.

Chobe National Park

The Chobe National Park is renowned for Africa's largest concentration of Elephants and is an all year round big game and birding destination.

In Chobe it's possible to see rare antelope such as Sable and Puku and other more common antelope such as Kudu, Impala and Zebra.

Chobe has a great diversity and concentration of wildlife.

During the dry season the herds congregate along the fertile flood plains of the Chobe River.

Large herds of Buffalo are common and other species such as Lion, Wild Dog, Puku, Red Lechwe, Sable and Roan Antelope are encountered in many areas of the park.

Seeing Lion in a kill or watching endangered Wild Dogs is always a thrilling experience which adds to the drama of a safari in Chobe National Park.
