Day 3: Bangkok

In the morning enjoy a fascinating glimpse into the Bangkok of old by bike, taking in popular sites such as Chinatown and Wat Arun, whilst also venturing off the beaten path a little bit to see some lesser known sites not on the tourist map.

The cycling is not strenuous and is conducted with a guide and support and is a great way to see the city from a different angle.

The afternoon is at leisure for you to relax or explore independently.

Day 4: Bangkok

In the morning enjoy a fun morning cooking class in one of Bangkok’s excellent cooking schools - a great way of becoming more acquainted with Thai cuisine.

A one-course meal will be prepared and of course, your efforts will serve as your lunch. Afterwards, transfer back to your hotel and enjoy the afternoon at leisure.

This evening, discover Thai food in Chinatown. Accompanied by a local expert, visit 7 different locations and discover 11 different dishes, from simple street food stalls to plusher restaurants. This is a great way to experience some of the most interesting places to eat and the variety of Thai food.

More than a culinary journey, this evening also offers insights into the life and characters of this lively district of Bangkok.

Day 5: Chiang Mai

Fly to Chiang Mai. On arrival enjoy a morning tour of ‘local’ Chiang Mai, by tuk-tuk, samlor (cycle rickshaw) and songthaew (a mini pick-up truck).

This experience is about discovering the real Chiang Mai, visiting various temples and markets along the way. The tour has no fixed itinerary and spontaneity is the key.

The afternoon is at leisure to relax or further explore Chiang Mai.

Day 6: Chiang Mai

Enjoy the morning at leisure in Chiang Mai to relax or explore on your own.

In the afternoon visit one of Chiang Mai’s most important and culturally interesting Buddhist temples. Spend time talking with the monks and find out more about life as a Buddhist monk. This is a rather unique opportunity to learn about Thai Buddhism and the lives of the monks.

In the evening enjoy a guided culinary tour, and sample the delights of Chiang Mai’s fabulous cuisine, including various local delicacies, and the delicious kao soi, a delightful coconut curry noodle dish, unique to Chiang Mai.

Day 7: Chiang Mai

Enjoy a unique day experience, discovering the life of a Thai rice farmer. On this fascinating and immersive day experience, enjoy a privileged and unique insight into the processes involved
 in rice farming, spending the day with Thai rice farmers.

After breakfast you will be collected from your hotel for a day learning about life as a rice farmer. On arrival, exchange your clothes for traditional Thai farmers clothes, and become part of the farm staff for a day, helping to plant and harvest the rice, and learning about the whole process of rice cultivation.

This isn’t a day of back-breaking labour, but a unique way of getting underneath the surface of Thai life and culture.

Day 8: Chiang Mai

Drive to the Lisu Lodge, a comfortable lodge run by Lisu villagers, offering a great insight into the way of life and culture of the Lisu.

Enjoy a walk from Ton Lung temple to visit the herbal garden accompanied by a Lisu villager as guide.

Continue through the village with a stop for a cup of tea at the village shaman’s house. Chat with the Lisu Shaman and learn about his life, beliefs, curing rites and Lisu traditions.

Enjoy lunch at Lisu Lodge and afterwards visit the cultural center and ‘museum’ created by the villagers. Inside is a collection of typical household items and tools from the Lisu as well as the Akha mountain peoples.

Afterwards, you have a choice of activities: Guided bike tour around the Lisu Lodge area; Steam bath or Massage; Ox-cart ride through farmlands and orchards to a Thai Village (about 1 hour).

A second additional 1-hour activity can be booked at a nominal charge but as a free activity you are welcome to go cycling by yourself.

Dinner is served at the lodge with a traditional Lisu dance show.

Day 9: Lisu Lodge - Phuket

After breakfast, depart by private car back to Chiang Mai and fly to Phuket. Transfer to your hotel with the rest of the day at leisure.

Days 10: Phuket

Enjoy a full day tour to Phi Phi Islands, renowned for spectacular scenery.

Lunch is included, after which there will be ample time to shop,
 swim, snorkel or just relax on the beach.

Arrive back in Phuket
 in the late afternoon and transfer back to your hotel.

Day 11: Khao Sok National Park

Pick up from your hotel and transfer to Elephant Hills.

After lunch enjoy a guided jungle river canoe trip down the Sok River, paddled by a local river guide, passing limestone mountains and cliffs and primary rainforest thousands of years old. Hornbills can sometimes be seen overhead or reptiles basking on the riverbanks.

After the canoe trip, head to the Elephant Sanctuary and see, touch and learn about the life of Thai elephants.

The local guide will explain about the mahout, the elephant caretaker. This is a great way to get close up to the elephants, by preparing their meals, feeding and washing them.

After the Elephant Experience, check-in to your luxury safari tent at Elephant Hill’s main camp. Relax and enjoy the panoramic views of the surrounding jungle-covered mountains.

Day 12: Khao Sok National Park

Self paddle canoe through the rainforest channels.

Wake up to the sounds of gibbons calling in the valley and birds calling from the bushes next to the tent.

Today explore Cheow Larn Lake by local long-tail boat. Cruise across emerald waters passing towering rainforest covered Limestone Mountains to the ‘Guilinof Southern Thailand’.

The Cheow-Lan-Lake is a little known wonder of southern Thailand and features a first-class habitat for wild elephants, the rare Asian ox, hornbills and hundreds of other tropical birds, various monkey species, amphibians, reptiles and even tigers and leopards.

This combined with a myriad of other species hidden in the rainforest-covered hills make it one of the most unique and important areas of rainforest in South East Asia.

Head to the floating Elephant Hills Rainforest Camp, situated in the heart of the national park, and check in to your luxury tent set on a platform over the lake.

After a buffet lunch, enjoy a walk through the Primary Rainforest. The trek is along easy jungle footpaths, although the occasional stretch is a little bit steep and it can be slippery when wet.

This is one of the world’s oldest rainforests, with a great variety of exotic plants, tropical hardwood trees with huge roots, orchids, palms, ferns, bamboos and mosses.

Hornbills are common, gibbons can often be heard calling to their mates, a macaque or a leaf monkey may be swinging through the branches, beautiful butterflies flit around.

After the Jungle trek, head back to the Floating Camp for sunset and a buffet dinner.

Day 13: Khao Sok National Park

Enjoy Jungle Trekking through Southern Thailand's unique rainforest environment with the chance for more canoeing or swimming in the lake waters.

Join a guided canoe safari through the narrow channels of Cheow Larn Lake. After lunch, transfer to your hotel in Krabi.
