Singapore Sling

Singapore Sling

Raffles Hotel opened in 1887 in a rather sombre-looking old bungalow known as the Beach House and was named after Sir Stamford Raffles, the founder of modern Singapore.

Topical suites and sola topis were as much a part of Raffles Hotel's early style as bentwood tables and rattan chairs.

Over the years the hotel has evolved into one of the world's most beloved grand hotels and welcomed innumerable celebrities, writers and royalty.

A stay at Raffles is perhaps still the ultimate Singapore experience in one of the world’s great heritage style hotels.

What's so Special?

Singapore slings, tigers in the Long Bar, croquet on the lawn – it can only be Raffles. Nostalgia aside, the proximity of shopping, dining and transport means that location isn’t compromised by a stay here.

Bear in Mind

Raffles is undergoing some renovations during 2017 and will mean the closure of some of the dining outlets. The hotel was closed at the end of 2017 for a grand re-opening at the beginning of 2019. Ask us for full details.

Courtyard & Palm Court Suites

The Courtyard and Palm Court Suites are among those closest to the lush flora of the hotel, lending these suites an unmatched ambience of tranquility.

With 14-foot ceilings and elegant period furnishings, including oriental carpets on the teak, marble and tiled floors, each suite exudes warmth and character. All suites feature private parlours and dining areas.

Grand Hotel Suites

Distinguished by their premier location in the Main Building, each of the seven Grand Hotel Suites is elegantly appointed with tastefully selected antiques and artwork.

All suites feature private parlours, dining areas and verandahs. Among these are the hotel's premier suites including the Sir Stamford Raffles and Sarkies Suites, each featuring two bedrooms, a private dining room that seats ten guests, a private parlour, pantry and verandah.

Personality Suites

Over the years, Raffles Hotel has been privileged to host some of the world's brightest luminaries from the entertainment, literary and political arenas.

The twelve Personality Suites (Joseph Conrad Suite, Rudyard Kipling Suite, Somerset Maugham Suite, Noel Coward Suite, Charlie Chaplin Suite, John Thomson Suite, Ava Gardner Suite, André Malraux Suite, Pablo Neruda Suite, James Michener Suite, Gavin Young Suite and John Wayne Suite) are posthumous tributes to some of the hotel's dearest friends and are distinguished by the specially sourced celebrity memorabilia placed within each suite.

All suites feature private parlours and dining areas.

Ah Teng’s Bakery

Delicious pastries, biscuits and cakes, as well as steaming hot dim sum, are the highlights of this cosy café. Perfect for an early morning 'cuppa', Ah Teng's provides a warm and inviting dining experience.

Doc Cheng’s

This internationally acclaimed, award-winning themed restaurant features Western cuisine created with an Asian twist, using the region's cooking techniques, spices and ingredients.

Empire Cafe

Styled like a typical 1920s Singapore coffee house, Empire Café serves up both international staples and local favourites.

Long Bar Steakhouse

Located on the 2nd storey of Raffles Hotel Arcade, adjacent to the world-famous Long Bar, Long Bar Steakhouse cleverly combines steakhouse dining with the nostalgia and simple, honest flavours of early plantation fare.

Inspired by the legendary exploits of Frank Cavendish, an adventurous planter who retreated to Raffles Hotel every weekend in the early 1900s as a respite from the rigours of plantation life in Malaya, the house specialities are succulent prime cuts of meat and seafood, marinated with the flavours of the Orient.

Raffles Creamery

Ice-cream just got cooler! Choose from over 30 flavours of high quality homemade ice cream. Every creation is a work of art.

Raffles Courtyard

Built in the tropical setting of an open courtyard, Raffles Courtyard, a timeless structure with white arches flanked by tropical palms and native plants, keeps the feeling of 'Old Singapore' alive.

A colonial cocktail bar, a traditional alfresco kitchen, table umbrellas and live music make the courtyard a pleasant place for patrons to watch the passing parade of visitors. Complementing the alfresco experience is the courtyard's ocean-fresh seafood, prepared à la minute in any Asian style.

Raffles Grill

An aura of timeless elegance sets the tone for the Hotel's formal dining room. Beautifully restored to its former glory, with French windows overlooking the Palm Court, Raffles Grill captures the true essence of fine dining.

The cuisine is light and innovative, characterised by a blend of classical and contemporary French cuisine. To complement the exquisite menu is a wine list featuring an extensive selection from the hotel's celebrated wine cellar.

Royal China at Raffles

A top international Chinese restaurant operator based in London, Royal China is well known for its signature dishes such as lobster noodles, crispy duck in pancake, roast suckling pig and traditional dim sum items.

The Tiffin Curry Buffet, featuring traditional Indian and Asian specialities, is a hot favourite with tourists and Singapore residents alike. The Tiffin Room buffet is available for lunch and dinner. The Tiffin Room also serves international breakfast and high tea daily.

Long Bar

Home of the Singapore Sling, the earthy decor of this two-storey bar was inspired by the Malayan plantations of the 1920s. In addition to almost every alcoholic and non-alcoholic concoction imaginable, the bar also serves traditional pub favourites that are available for both lunch and snacks.
