Set on Macleod Island in the Mergui Archipelago, Myanmar Andaman Resort is in an idyllic secluded location ideal for those looking to experience nature and find an alternative kind of beach resort.

The resort can be reached by flight from Yangon to Kawthaung (Victoria Point) or by boat transfer (1 hour 40 minutes) from Rayong in Thailand, itself only a 50 minute flight from Bangkok.

Alternatively get picked up from Phuket, Khao Lak or Khao Sok, making this a great option for an add on from the south of Thailand.

The resort therefore makes a very interesting way to combine a tour of Myanmar with southern Thailand.

A stay at the resort offers the chance to enjoy the great marine environment and the local nature.

There is some great wildlife on the island and several species of birdlife.

Accommodation consists of free standing chalets set on the forest edge.

What’s so Special?

About as far from mass tourism as you can find.

The island is very hilly and offers great trekking, bird watching and a lovely stretch of unspoilt beach (3 beaches in fact).

There is a PADI Dive Centre making this an excellent option for those looking to dive the Mergui Archipelago.

Bear in mind

Note that those arriving from Rayong and departing from elsewhere in Myanmar (or vice versa) require a special permit for Myanmar - ask us for assistance with this.

Cottages & Chalets

There are 14 Superior Cottages and 8 Suite Chalets at the Myanmar Andaman Resort.

The Chalets (40 sq. m) are larger than the Superior Cottages (26 sq. m).

All rooms have air con and ceiling fans and are all no more than a stroll (under a minute) from the beach.

Features:

  • Air Con
  • Ceiling Fan
  • Mosquito Nets
  • Daily Drinking Water
  • Hairdryer

PADI Dive Centre

With its own PADI Dive Center operated by an experienced team of instructors and dive masters, Myanmar Andaman Resort offers a convenient and comfortable way to dive the Mergui Archipelago.

These waters, completely isolated until 1997, have one of the best preserved reef systems in the region.

Dive packages and PADI dive courses are offered - ask us for details.

For non-divers half-day and full-day snorkeling trips around the island are available.

Facilities

The resort sea kayaks are a great way to explore Macleod Island and its surrounding beaches.

Tours are available on request provided by a well trained guide who can show you the most interesting places along the island’s shore.

You can visit mysterious caves and explore the coastal mangrove forest.

Macleod has an unspoiled environment and jungle with many tropical plants and bird life.

A hike to Macleod’s highest peak offers some of the most amazing views.

You can choose to explore the hills yourself or hire a guide. Many bird species breed on the island, making it a real bird sanctuary.

Island hopping trips, cultural excursions and Thai massage are also available.
