The Luxe Manor hotel is one of the most imaginative, creative and exciting boutique hotels in Hong Kong. Imagine if Salvador Dali, Andre Breton and Joan Miro had been consulted to furnish a luxurious, boutique hotel; that’s The Luxe Manor, a refreshingly out of the ordinary Hong Kong hotel, quite unlike any other boutique hotel in Hong Kong.

Luxe Manor’s design is a delightful mix of Oriental, Post-modern and European décor, an intriguing celebration of the surreal and the homely, fascinating at every turn.

Expect to find surprises from the moment you enter through the giant doors into the ‘Alice in Wonderland meets China’ lobby (complete with throne chairs and giant doors).

Luxe Manor has a cosy and convivial Dadaist themed jazz bar (more high backed velvet ‘thrones’, chaise-lounges and daybeds) and themed Suites - Bedouin tents with star studded ceilings, glacially inspired Nordic sanctuaries with reindeer skin rugs and ice cube seats or the ‘Mirage Suite’ with mock broken furniture, 4-handled doors and a TV which reveals itself from behind a wall painting. Inspired by the Munsters or the Twighlight Zone? – We’re not sure which.

The location on Kimberley Road means that Hong Kong’s harbour-front and attractions of Kowloon are all easily accessed. Great restaurants on Knutsford Terrace are just opposite and Park Lane shopping Mall is right next-door.

What’s so Special?

Mirrored wallpaper? Circular beds? A Safari Suite? This is far from being your ordinary Hong Kong hotel but we love the quirkiness and humour. The vibe is Boho-chic (if we can call it that), clearly arty, a little bit tongue in cheek, drawing on eclectic influences and mixing them to great effect.

The location is excellent and will suit shoppers and diners looking to be in the heart of busy Kowloon.

The young owner is well travelled and from a well-to-do Hong Kong family. The eclectic and wistful design of the hotel could have gone horribly astray in the wrong hands, but thankfully the result is a delight – not exactly restrained, but in our opinion a lot of fun and on the right side of tasteful.

Bear in mind

If you only eat vanilla ice cream and your walls are all magnolia, you’d probably hate Luxe Manor.

Not all of the Suites are themed – some are rather muted and disappointingly ordinary by comparison.

Luxe Manor has 153 rooms but it doesn’t feel like it at all.
