Azerai La Residence

Hue's first deluxe boutique hotel, Azerai La Residence is nestled on the banks of Hue’s Perfume River and offers the most luxurious accommodation in Hue.

Built in 1930, the distinctive and graceful Art Deco building of La Residence was once the residence of the French governor of Central Vietnam and has been tastefully complemented by the addition of two modern wings in the same Art Deco style.

The original building still houses La Residence’s luxurious suites and a grand art deco lobby, with tiled walls hung with old portraits of Hue, lending a real sense of having arrived somewhere.

Hue’s Azerai La Residence Hotel now offers 122 rooms designed with a combination of colonial charm and Asian opulence finished in modern earthy shades.

Azerai La Residence Hotel Hue has a great view across the Perfume River towards the Imperial Citadel and the giant flag tower at its entrance.

The hotel features a large 30 metre long salt-water swimming pool set amongst the tropical riverside gardens, and excellent spa, making a longer stay in Hue quite a temptation.

What's so Special?

For a real sense of history, go for one of the Suites in the original villa building.

The location of La Residence means that Hue's attractions are close at hand.

Considering the high standard, La Residence is remarkably good value for both accommodation and dining.

Bear in Mind

La Residence Hue was brought under the management of Azerai Hotels in 2018 and has undergone a spruce up as a result.

There isn’t much in the way of dining within easy walking distance, but taxi’s or tuk tuks are very cheap indeed and it’s only a 5-minute drive to restaurants for those who feel like a change from the hotel dining.

Superior Rooms

Superior Rooms are located in the new wing. Rooms all offer stunning Art Deco furnishing, dark hard wood and French colonial tile designs.

All Superior Rooms have private balconies and most (but not all) rooms have great views across the Perfume River to the imposing flagstaff of the Citadel beyond.

Bathrooms feature Art Deco era tiling and taps marked ‘Froid’ and ‘Chaud’.

Superior Rooms come in 3 types; Standard, Garden View and River View.

Deluxe Rooms

Deluxe Rooms (30 sq. m) come with either a Garden or River view and feature private sun terraces.

Features:

  • Air Con
  • Free Wi-Fi
  • Flat Screen TV with Satellite
  • Hairdryer
  • Sofa
  • Minibar

Restaurant Le Parfum

Hue is the home of Vietnam's finest cuisine. Azerai La Residence’s chefs use the freshest market ingredients to create delicious local, regional and international dishes.

The dining room offers great views across the Perfume River to the Imperial Citadel.

Beyond the dining room, Le Parfum offers cooking classes, which take participants on a culinary journey from the restaurant to the Ben Ngu Market and back to the hotel’s kitchen for a hands-on lesson in Vietnamese cuisine.

Other dining options include a dinner cruise on the Perfume River including a delicious three-course meal prepared by the on-board chef.

Alternatively dine like Mandarins at a Hue Imperial Dinner in the garden on the banks of the perfume river or at the old theatre in the Citadel.

Azerai La Residence can also organise a romantic getaway with a candle-lit dinner on one of the hotel's balconies.

Bar Le Gouveneur

The dominant focus at the bar is a spectacular fresco created by French Artist Roland Renaud who is based in Vietnam. It was inspired by wall paintings found on several art deco buildings in France.

Among them is a fresco on the wall of the Musée des Colonies in Paris and The Main Post Office in Lyon.

It took three months to create on one single piece of fabric and was made in Saigon before being transported to Hue and installed.
