252 Hotel

The 252 Hotel Phnom Penh is a friendly, intimate and cozy Phnom Penh boutique hotel in a great central location – a quiet little oasis of 19 rooms offering superb value for money accommodation in Phnom Penh.

Hotel 252’s location is very good, close to restaurants and the boutique shops of 278 and 240 Street. Most sights, such as the riverside, markets and Silver Pagoda are within a 5-10 minute taxi or tuk tuk ride away, or a fairly lengthy walk.

Rooms at the 252 Hotel are located in one building off a central staircase. The pool area is typical of this type of Phnom Penh boutique hotel – a decent size and shaded amongst leafy, tropical gardens.

By the pool are 5 covered pavilions with day beds – the perfect chill-out spot.   Breakfast is served in the little poolside café.

What’s so Special?

For those looking for a clean, cozy, boutique hotel in Phnom Penh offering great value for money, the 252 Hotel could be just the ticket.

The hotel is under Swiss Management, which is evident in the ease and efficiency of the service and in the demeanor of the staff who appear highly motivated.

Bear in Mind

Rooms are fairly sparsely decorated – spacious but with fairly stark, bare concrete walls.

What they lack in decor they make up for in space and functionality.

Rooms at the 252 are modern, minimally furnished and spacious. Furniture is creatively handcrafted in cool polished concrete or wood, and rooms are accented with the odd handicrafts from Tendance Khmère (a local artisan workshop affiliated with the hotel).

All beds have spring mattresses with 100% cotton bed linen giving a rich feel of comfort and quality.

Rooms have differing styles according to the floor. First floor rooms have a loose Australian feel, combining a subtle blend of silk with Australia's beach lifestyle.

First floor rooms mix Hawaiian Islands with Pondicherry and a stopover in Seoul and Shanghai (or so they say!).   The second floor is more Khmer style.

The top floor brings you to the Edo period in Japan, the traditional kimonos have been revisited in a collection of pillows "courte-pointe" and seat cushions. That’s how the folks at the 252 describe the rooms at least.

We find the rooms rather ‘subtle’ in their design – so don’t expect rooms full of character, they are fairly bare with the odd flourish. We do like the rooms though and they are great value.

Garden Restaurant

The 252 Hotel has a thatched roof garden restaurant open for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

Meals are standard fare but well-priced.

Nearby Dining

The central Phnom Penh location means that there is no shortage of nearby places to eat.

The riverside restaurants are just a short tuk tuk ride away.

Facilities

The best feature of the 252 is the hotel pool which offers a tempting spot to cool down in in the shaded garden. The poolside cabanas are the perfect spot for relaxing after a day touring Phnom Penh.

The staff are very helpful and can assist in arranging any additional excursions.

Wi-Fi seems to be very reliable.

What Kind of Cambodia Holidays to you organise?

All of our Cambodia holidays are private tailor made itineraries, customised for you - we can amend things to entirely suit you.

You will have your own private car, driver and guide on excursions.

How much time you have with a guide is up to you. Some people like to have a driver and guide on all or most days, some of our customers want to be totally independent.

Overall, we find a mix of guided excursions and free time to explore is usually best.

What are the departure dates?

Let us know your preferred dates of travel and we will find the best and most suitable flights to fit your itinerary.

As all of our holidays to Cambodia are private tours, there are no set departure dates.

Which Airlines do you use?

We work with all the major airlines flying to this part of the world.

Typically for Cambodia, Thai Airways, Singapore Airlines, Emirates or Vietnam Airlines would be airlines we would often use.

However, just let us know your preferred airline if you have one. We can organise flights from any regional destination in the UK.

There are no direct flights from the UK to Cambodia currently.

Which Hotels do you use?

We're careful with our choice of hotels, but we're guided by our customers also. If you have some preferred hotels, just let us know - almost certainly we can incorporate it

We specialise in boutique hotels and so we will often suggest some of our favourite smaller hotels where we think these will be suitable.

There is a great choice of boutique and luxury hotels in Phnom Penh and in Siem Reap and increasingly along the Cambodian Riviera.

Once you head out from these three mains areas, accommodation options decrease although there are a handful of nice boutique hotels in the provinces.

We keep on top of hotel developments in Cambodia from our office in Vietnam and regularly inspect the hotels we use.

Do you cater for Solo Travellers & Families?

Yes, we have many solo travellers and Cambodia is a very safe, friendly and welcoming destination for those travelling alone.

River cruises on the Mekong in Cambodia are a popular option for solo travellers, especially with Pandaw Cruises who offer no Single Supplements on many departures.

Cambodia is a great destination for families if enough thought is given to creating the right itinerary and a family holiday to Cambodia goes especially well with neighbouring Thailand or Vietnam.

Children of all ages tend to love the Temples at Angkor - it can feel like a real adventure, as does a visit to the Cardamom Mountains in the West of Cambodia.

Road conditions mean travel off the beaten track in Cambodia can be a little bit long, with bumpy or dusty roads so bear that in mind.

How long have you been organising holidays to Cambodia?

We've been organising tailor made holidays to Cambodia for over 10 years.

Our team has a wealth of combined experience in the industry and our Director has been involved in organising holidays to Cambodia since the early 1990's - whilst Pol Pot was still living in the jungle close to Siem Reap.

Our partners on the ground in Cambodia have over 20 years experience in operating there.

They understand the country extremely well and have a strong infrastructure of staff, guides and vehicles within Cambodia. We've had the same partnership for over 10 years.

Where can I combine a holiday to Cambodia with?

Many people visit Cambodia as a stand-alone destination although once you are away from Phnom Penh, Siem Reap and Sihanoukville, the infrastructure and accommodation is nowhere near as developed.

Cambodia and Vietnam or Laos (or all three) sit perfectly together and there are good connecting flights between Cambodia and Vietnam in particular.

Combining Cambodia with neighbouring Thailand is another popular and easy option.

A Mekong River Cruise between Vietnam and Cambodia is a superb way to combine both destinations.

How do I organise a holiday through you?

It's simple - give us a call on 0333 7000 747 and speak to a Cambodia expert, or send us an email on sales@jasmineholidays.co.uk with some details of what you need.

However far you are down the road of thinking about your trip, we will be able to put an itinerary and costs together for you and tailor something to suit your requirements.
