In Search of Wild Orangutan

This tour focuses on searching for orangutans and their nests in the forests of Ulu Ai and Ulu Sungai Menyang.

You will help record the locations of fresh nests and orangutans on GPS units.

Sightings are passed on to orangutan researchers at WCS Malaysia.

A reasonable level of fitness is required but the tour does offer some flexibility.

For example, you can opt for shorter treks near Nanga Sumpa and Lubok Kasai or longer treks further afield.

Weather conditions and the water level of local rivers may force  guides to modify the itinerary in the interests of safety.

For example, some trekking activities are not possible during heavy rain or a thunderstorm.

This is a superb way to experience being in the jungle of Borneo and also to experience the culture and lifestyle of the Iban.

Please note however that sightings of orangutan are not guaranteed.
