Day 1: UK - Athens

Fly from the UK to Athens where you will be met on arrival and transferred to your hotel.

Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure.

Day 2: Athens

Enjoy a full day private tour of Athens.

Enjoy a comprehensive city tour combining the main landmarks and sites of Athens. Discover must-see Athens with the help of an expert guide on this carefully designed half-day tour.

Begin in the contemporary heart of Athens, Syntagma Square where you will learn about the modern history of the city. Pass by the impressive Greek Parliament, the Presidential Guard in traditional colourful uniform and the memorial Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.

Drive by numerous elegant neoclassical buildings, including the President’s Residence, a former Royal Palace, to reach the Panathenaic Stadium that held the first modern Olympic Games in 1896.

After a short stop, drive by the classical temple of Olympian Zeus, Hadrian's Arch, the National Library, the Academy, the University of Athens and the Catholic Cathedral. You will be amazed by the rich classical and modern heritage of Athens.

The next stop is the Acropolis, the eternal symbol of democracy, education and inspiration.

Your guide will explain the history of the Golden Age of Athens as you visit the architectural masterpieces the Propylea, the Temple of Athena Nike, the Erechtheion and finally the Parthenon, one of the world’s most famous monuments, dedicated to the goddess Athena.

Day 3: Athens - Delphi

In this 10-hour tour, a knowledgeable professional guide will explain the history and mythology of this unique site, an essential pilgrimage for lovers of the ancient world.

Begin your journey in the morning heading to Delphi, 170 km northeast of Athens. Passing through the fertile plain of Boeotia and the towns of ancient Thebes, arrive at Delphi – the Omphalos (Navel of Earth) whose prestige extended far beyond the boundaries of the Hellenic World.

On the slopes of Mount Parnassus, in a landscape of some beauty and majesty, lies Delphi’s archaeological site, filled with monuments and temples, with the ruins of the Sanctuary of Apollo being the most important.

See the Treasury of the Athenians, the Theatre, the Stadium and the Museum with the famous statue of Antinoos and the unique bronze statue of the Charioteer dating from 475 B.C and the famous athlete Aghias.

The tour takes you to the modern village of Delphi or Arachova, for a short walk and lunch.

The area is well known for its handwoven colourful quilts, rugs and carpets, as well as for its wine and cheese.

Day 4: Athens - Amanzoe

Today you will head to Amanzoe with sightseeing en-route.

Depart in the morning heading south, and enter the region of the Peloponnese, passing the Corinth Canal. Make a short stop at this great canal which connects the Aegean and Ionian seas.

Continue to Mycenae, one of the most important archaeological sites in Greece. Mycenae was described as the ‘City rich in Gold’ in Homer’s epic poem the Iliad.

Such descriptions were matched once the Golden Mask of Agamemnon was discovered among many other treasures.

Enter the ancient town from the Lion Gate and walk up to Agamemnon`s Royal Palace, as your guide explains the history and mythology of the site.

Your next stop is Nafplio, the first capital of the modern Greek state. Enjoy lunch (optional) at a local restaurant and stroll around the picturesque town, to see Syntagma Square, the primary Parliament House of Greece and numerous other historic buildings.

Continue your trip with a visit to the theatre of Epidaurus, still in use today and renowned for its amazing acoustics.

In antiquity, apart from a theatre Epidaurus was a world famous medical and healing centre. Temples dedicated to Apollo and Asklepeios are also located here.
