Chakrabongse Villas is a unique Bangkok boutique hotel, a converted Royal riverside residence just around the corner from the Grand Palace. 

Chakrabongse Villas consists of just 8 rooms set around lovingly tended gardens and a sizeable swimming pool. Prince Chakrabong was a Royal Prince who married a Russian commoner, and their granddaughter Narissa now owns the residence, which is run as a small and exclusive hotel.

Chakrabongse Villas caters for different budgets as four Deluxe Rooms were added in 2010 to the more luxurious Suites.

What's so special?

Once inside, Chakrabongse Villas seems like a world apart from the city outside, a real private oasis.

The spacious gardens, historic buildings and well-sized pool make Chakrabaongse Villas a really special boutique hotel in Bangkok.

With a maximum of around a dozen guests at one time in the spacious grounds, it does feel like something of a privilege to stay at Chakrabongse Villas. How refreshingly different from staying at the Sheraton!

Our favourite rooms are the River House, which has a huge terrace overlooking the Chao Phraya River, and the recently added two bedroom Chinese Suite which contains antique royal furniture.

We highly recommend the set dinner at Chakrabongse Villas - dining fit for royalty in an unparalleled location.

Bear in mind

Rooms at Chakrabongse Villas are very nice but don't expect opulence. The luxury comes with the surroundings, the privacy and the location. The four new Deluxe Rooms are really quite small.

Being next to the river does mean that the river boats can be a little noisy in the morning, but it's all part of the atmosphere.
